What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Te Kōhanga Reo o Te Maunga Kōhungahunga, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“The kaimahi at Te Maunga are absoloutly amazing!!! They put real time and effort into each child. Always developing new indoor and outdoor activites. The way the interact and keep the kids engaged is exactly what we wanted and were looking for. I was nervous at first as I knew very basic reo and thought this would be an issue but it really was not and I really enjoy being able to learn with my tamariki. The core values of Te Maunga were exactly what we were looking for and when our tamariki are excited to arrive each morning shows us how they love it too.”
“We LOVE Te Maunga Kohungahunga! The staff are amazing and care for the tamariki with so much love. The children learn all thing Te Ao Māori in such a supportive way. Te Maunga is an encouraging, warm environment to learn Reo Māori if you don't already speak it, they will help you. Kia ora team Te Maunga”
