What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Tauranga Hospital Play Service, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“I can not speak highly enough of the gynecology surgical team and the staff on ward C3. Everyone we encounter after an emergency admission and surgery was kind, caring, professional and attentive. I am blown away by the compassion and beautiful medical practice I witnessed. You are a credit to Tauranga hospital.”
“My partner was admitted and ended up requiring surgery. All the staff we encountered were excellent, professional, and friendly. We were kept informed and they made her feel important. Definitely the best public hospital experience we have had in New Zealand.”
“I had to be transfered from whk and honestly the nurses who took care of me during the strike and the doctors who came in from being on call. The nurses and student nurses that looked after me level 3 ward 3 3b-c I'm 58 i can not thank u all enough for the kindness and understanding u showed me . I can not thank you enough for the laughs and conversations while my partner sat there .”
“I have always had good things to say about our hospital...but not the last time I had to visit. I was bought in by ambulance with serious breathing issues. In the ambulance I was on Oxygen but once dropped off that was it. I was left in the in the ambulance bay by the doors. It was a very cold night, which didn't help my breathing. Every time an ambulance came in the doors opened and I froze. I was left there for 7 and a half hours. I had to ask three times for a blanket. After a chest x-ray and a few questions they said there was nothing wrong. I kept saying it's my throat not my chest. I was not listened to. 3 weeks later checking in for a gastronomy I was asked what I took for my infection, I asked what infection, the one when you were at Tauranga Hospital. Since then I have had many issues. Slowly getting better and now a true diagnosis. Very disappointed a very scary night and made to feel like a waste of time.”
“I have been to Tauranga Hospital several times and always been happy with the care I have received. But this last month I was diagnosed with uterus cancer and the female doctor I had was so negative about my prognosis, even before I had my petscan. I have been in agony this last month thinking I haven't long to go. The cancer nurse have been very supportive and helpful. I still don't know how serious this is, and for anybody who get a cancer diagnos would know, it's very scary. I had the same cancer many years ago, and it have come back. I didn't know that doctors could be so complete without empathy. Talking about palliative care, and scary operations without knowing how bad it is, is not very professional. I just wish this doctor would think twice before giving a negative outcome without even knowing what's really going on. 😕”
