About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Newmarket Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“My 2 young kids would choose to go every day if we could! Lots of outdoor space to play and run around, countless activities and things to do and explore. Not to mention it's run by the most caring, dedicated and supportive community/team. We adore Newmarket Playcentre.”
“I can’t rate NPC highly enough, this place is awesome!! It’s not only about child lead play, it’s about opportunities and creativity and being able to express onself in a nurturing and caring environment. My daughter had the best time here as did I. What more could you want for your child in their young years. It wasn’t only about the kids though… the friendships, support and caring from other like minded parents was priceless!! 😊 Many, many happy memories created @NPC, thank you 💕”

“A wonderful place for kids to grow, play, and learn! Great outdoor space with shade and lots of fun indoor activities too — perfect all year round. My twins were drawn in just by walking past, and we’ve been coming for over a year now. They still love it and often ask, “Can we go to PC today?” Highly recommend — your child will love it here! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
“This is the best play center. The large outdoor space and fully equipped toys allow children to play to their heart's content. All members are kind and sincere, allowing us to enjoy every day here.”
