About Montessori STARS
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Montessori STARS, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“I don't know where to begin, I'm overwhelmed with the amount of support and love we received from Sharon and the amazing teacher. My family and I were welcomed with open arms. I'm so greaful and happy that I found a place where my angel can spread her wings and explore without any boundaries of limitations to grow. I'm so impressed on how she has grown attached to the teachers and her peers. I'm looking forward to what the future holds my princess. Thank you so much Sharon and the amazing team. I wished I knew about this centre earlier. I don't regret my decision for choosing this center, best decision I've ever made 😁😁❣️❣️”
“I had the pleasure of visiting Montessori Stars Preschool with a colleague. We teach New Entrants to Year 2 children in a primary school setting. Our main purpose for the visit was to see a snapshot of the learning provided, how the environment (both inside and outside) catered for the children and how we could enhance Montessori education when children come into our primary school setting. We thoroughly enjoyed our time in this preschool. The preschool had a very homely, welcoming feel, the staff obviously love the children and we were impressed with the balance of the learning provided, along with the encouragement given to the children to direct their own learning. Thank you Shaz!”
“Montessori Stars is a nurturing, supportive, unique preschool and I feel so lucky to have found it for my little one. She has grown leaps and bounds since starting at 2 and I know she will be ready to transition to school soon. The teachers are like family, and because the staff turnover is so low and the teacher to child ratios are excellent, they all know my child really well and we’ve formed close bonds with them all. I can’t speak highly enough of our beautiful preschool ❤️”
“There is just so much to say about how marvellous Sharon and the team at Montessori Stars are, it’s tricky to know where to begin! Our Family, for a variety of reasons, needed flexibility, understanding, patience, ease and care, all is which we have received beyond our expectations. Our son has complex health needs and the teachers were able to provide us with the confidence they could care for him and that they had the training and experience, if a medical incident did occur. The size of the centre provides a uniquely nurturing environment. The teachers are able to recognise and foster the passion’s of each child. We have been so impressed with the way teachers encourage the children’s interests, including purchasing specific equipment and bringing items from their homes. Each of the teacher’s brings their own unique skills, passion and life experiences to the centre, ensuring it is a colourful and interesting learning space. I really love that cuddles are always on offer too, making it that much more special to be apart of this Montessori family. Wish we had found the centre sooner, it really is the BEST!”
“I've tried bigger and fancier preschools, but Montessori STARs is absolutely the best preschool I have encountered. The teachers and owner make you feel like family. There is no staff turnover like most preschools. The teachers love the kids, the kids love the teachers, and the I love that my kids are happy and learning.”
