What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Learning Steps Childcare Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“If I could give zero star, I would. This centre needs to learn better communication skills especially the owner. Belittling parents in front of other staff members is not a good practice. Childcare they provide is subpar. Our child has come back home with bruises that the teachers were not even aware of. The owner has no knowledge of how to communicate with parents. There have been so many discrepancies with invoice even though we have regularly paid weekly. There is never a clear answer. On questioning change, the owner told us 'its in fee policy.' like are you expecting parents to read your fee policy and remember it by heart. You would think daycare would communicate any changes, but no they are busy counting their money on cloud 9. Not recommended at all.”

“Thank you so much learning steps as a best caregiver for my daughter. As a first time mom who is overprotective for my girl , I was very unsure about putting my daughter in a daycare but as a working parents we don’t have other options. Learning steps has changed my perception about the daycare and this is the best decision for my daughter's development that I have enrolled her at learning steps. Teachers are so kind and helpful , also they always listen to us what are our priorities and do their best to identify my daughter’s skill. Highly recommend to all parents who really wanna assured their child’s safety and care. Keep doing your great work and thank you again.”

“Choosing Learning Steps Childcare Centre was one of the best decisions my wife and I made for our kids. We have been to numerous childcare centres before, but there's nothing like this place. They took great care of our kids, the staff were very welcoming and also made it a safe and interactive place for our kids. The manager, Ashmeeta is very friendly and my wife and I have built a great relationship with her over time. I would definitely recommend this place to any parents seeking childcare for their kids. Thanks.”
