What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at BestStart Silverdale, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Clean, tidy and so welcoming. We have settled into the centre with the best possible experience. My daughter gets so excited and it’s a huge relief to know my baby is in safe hands and looks forward to kindy. Couldn’t recommend higher”
“The Teachers are all very caring and focus on each childs individual development and work with parents to achieve their aspirations for their children. It is a home away from home for my daughter and I can confidently drop my daughter off in the morning and know that she is well looked after. The centre and teachers are very good with communicating with the parents which is very important.”
“Amazing center with the most friendly staff. The teachers are incredible and make you feel so safe and comfortable with having your child in their care. My child took a little while to settle and they went above and beyond in helping him get used to his new environment. You are really made to feel part of the family here.”
“My daughter has settled wonderfully at BestStart Silverdale. The staff are caring and make my little girl feel safe and special. We looked around many other settings and instantly felt happy with this daycare.”
“My two girls were at a different daycare, and they had their little friends there, but the way the other centre was being managed didn't agree with our views as parents. We made the big decision of changing our 2 and 3 year old girls to another daycare and we couldn't be happier with the decision we made. We did a couple of settling in visits and from the start, the teachers were great in welcoming the girls and making them feel at ease in a new centre. I was a bit concerned that this would be a bit of an overwhelming experience for them, but the way they were welcomed at Best Start Silverdale made us as parents feel confident that they would be alright. I love the low teacher - child ratio because it gives us the reassurance that the teachers will play and interact with the children and that they are not just a number. The vision is 'learn through play', but not just leaving the children to play all day. The teachers take the time to discover what the children like and delve a bit deeper into their interests. When a child is not particularly interested in an activity, they will take the time to explain it a bit more and the child might develop an interest in it, that they didn't even know about themselves. Another aspect from Best Start Silverdale that I much appreciate as a parent is the fresh and diverse food that the children get. We are two full-time working parents and it is a worry less when you know that your children are getting nutritious food. I could keep going, but I just want to add as a last but not least that the teachers actually listen to the parent's thoughts and concerns about their children and the teachers communicate about the child's day and what they did during the day. For me this is very important because they are at the daycare for a large majority of the day and when you pick up your child, you want to hear a bit more than 'it was a good day'.”
