About Reo Rua Education and Care
Reo Rua Education and Care centres offer bilingual early learning with both te reo Māori and English used throughout daily activities, helping children develop strong foundations in both languages. These centres are ideal for families who value bicultural education and want their child to experience learning through a Māori worldview while still engaging with English-medium teaching.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Te Puna Reo o Te Waonui a Tāne, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“My little one is starting there shortly, everyone has been welcoming and accepting of us, especially my limited te reo. First visit toddler was eager to get playing with the tuakana and fitted right in to their routine. The older kids were truly big brothers and sisters to him, helping and giving him little cuddles while they played alongside eachother. Kaiako were able to answer all my questions, give good information, and were like parents to all the kids. I feel comfortable and part of the community. I will update if ever that changes.”
“Beautiful wholesome space for tamariki and their learning journey. Our daughter loves it so much, even on the weekends she puts her shoes on hoping she can go. The kaiako are all amazing. So happy we chose this place for our daughter.”
