About Tai Tapu Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Tai Tapu Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Love this place. Amazing for the wee ones 5/5”
“Nice all purpose play centre with a rugby pitch, car park and ultra modern auditorium”
“Great spot for a kids party”
“My baby had a lot of fun there”
“We joined Tai Tapu Playcentre when we had two children under 2. We received an amazingly warm welcome, with offers of support and friendship that got us through some tough times and helped our family settle into the community. Some of our closest friends now, some 7 years on, are other parents we met at Playcentre. Like all Playcentres, it's run by the parents with the support of Playcentre Association. We employ qualified supervisors to offer child-led activities Monday to Wednesday mornings, plus there's a session just for babies (under 2 years old) on Friday mornings. Parents are welcome to stay and play with their children, or go and come back later (if children are over 2.5). You're welcome to come down and visit, at no cost, to find out how we can help you enrich your children's early years, making lasting memories and friendships at the same time.”
