Summerland Kindergarten

“I looked at so many kindergartens all over Auckland (including some very fancy private ones, and some others belonging to the Auckland Kindergarten Association) for my son, but the minute we visited Summerland, I knew it was the right one for us. The teachers and other staff at Summerland kindy are all incredibly welcoming, open and so supportive of each child’s individual development. The kindergarten has a real sense of community amongst not only the teachers and children, but also the wider families. Parents, grandparents and extended family are all welcomed, and there is a real ethos of sharing and warmth about the way the kindy functions. I especially like the emphasis on multiculturalism, kindness and empathy that is fostered here. My son has absolutely blossomed from a shy child into one who now has so many friends and is so confident as he approaches the transition to primary school. I would recommend Summerland kindy without reservation to anyone who asked. I genuinely believe it is the best Kindergarten in Auckland.”

“It has been four years since my children started going to Summerland Kindergarten. My first child is very energetic and free-spirited, and can get overly excited. The teachers are always patient, positive, and supportive. In her early days, it was difficult for my child to sit and listen during mat time, but the teachers provided a "magic mat," which made my child happy to sit and participate. My second child is very shy and took some time to make friends. But now she is very social within the kindergarten. After kindy, she seems more confident in herself. Outside of kindy, she is still shy, which makes me feel that this positive change is not just due to natural growth but because of the wonderful environment at the kindergarten. At kindy, they have a wide range of learning materials. My child sometimes can't help herself look around kindy when I try to get her bag sorted first thing in the morning😂. They are very active about rotating the materials so that kids never get bored. I don't know how they manage it, but truly amazing! Additionally, I sometimes ask the teachers for advice on parenting. The guidance I receive from these experienced teachers is very helpful and reassuring.”

“I went here in 2011-2012 and this was the best kindergarten my parents could have sent me to. They took their time talking to each of the kids and helping through things that seemed like then end if the world in my 3 year old eyes. Every now and then, I stick my head in the door and say hello, they have always made me feel welcomed. This is the best kindy you can send your kids to. Highly and strongly recommend 😊”
