What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at St Albans Community Preschool, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Our family have attended a few preschools in the area for various reasons and St Albans Community Preschool is our favourite by far! We have felt so welcomed and cared for from the moment we first visited. My daughter has had all the love and support she has needed, and has also developed so much independence and confidence, as well as social skills and various skills such as fine motor, artistic, athletic and creativity. I am completely confident she’ll be ready for school! The staff are always in a positive mood - if they’ve had a hard day, you’d never know. Incredibly professional while also bringing a great vibrant mood to the preschool. Our family has had some tough experiences to navigate and the preschool has absolutely contributed to getting us through it all, especially when we were new to the community! 5 star rating and I can’t even imagine that ever changing. Thank you team 🤍”
