About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Poppies Preschool St Martins, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“We absolutely love Poppies, we've sent both our kids here and couldn't be happier. The staff make this place what it is, they're kind, helpful, fun and genuinely care about the children in their care (and from what I've seen have a low staff turnover, which is always a good sign). Highly recommend to anyone on the fence about where to send their children!”

“Arthur loves Poppies so much that he wanted to marry one of his teachers! 😆 Kidding aside, they have the most amazing staff! They create a fun, supportive and welcoming environment for kids! Sending our son to Poppies-St. Martins is one of the best parenting decisions we've made!”

“Our 18 month old goes to St Martins Poppies Nursery and loves it. The staff are very nurturing, warm and have provided a safe and fun environment. Our baby has developed great attachments to his key staff members and they enjoy lots of activities and messy play together. I couldn't recommend the staff more!”
