About Peninsula Early Learning
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Peninsula Early Learning, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“After visiting many Preschools in our area, my wife and I were over the moon when an opening at Peninsula Early Learning was available for my son, as it was our 1st preference. All staff are phenomenal! Caring, engaged and always smiling. The premises and outside play areas are fantastic. The preschool has well planned daily, and weekly activities for the kids which are really thought through and seeing how happy my son is there is a solid confirmation we made the right decision. I can not speak more highly of the place.”
“I have been lucky enough to send both my daughters (with one still attending at present) to Peninsula Early Learning and would say without a doubt it is the best preschool in the area. The staff are absolutely wonderful and amazing with the children in their care. The centre has a lovely, welcoming atmosphere with lots to do and both my children really found their confidence here. There is a real focus on nature and the weekly nature walks are always the highlight of my daughter’s week! Highly recommend this wonderful place.”
“We couldn’t be happier with our experience at Peninsula Early Learning. From the moment we enrolled our son, it was clear that the preschool truly values the connection between learning and nature. The teaching team is amazingly supportive, kind and teacher child ratios are fantastic. We feel very informed and up to date with the Educa portal. One of the many highlights for our son has been the weekly nature walks, exploring the local beaches and parks. The school visits for the older children have been invaluable, and my son feels confident to begin his school journey with one of the local schools in the area next year. Another big bonus for us is the preschool does not close during the school holidays!”
“We feel incredibly lucky to have found this wonderful centre! We were a bit nervous about transitioning our daughter out of home based care after a bad early experience at daycare, but it has been an amazing addition to her life - she loves the kind and nurturing teachers, nature-based activities, and her new friends. We couldn’t recommend it more!”
“Peninsula Early Learning has been such a supportive environment for both my daughter and our whānau. The kaiako are all incredible teachers and so kind. They always have the child’s interest at the forefront of decisions. The ratios are great and the weekly nature walk programme and quarterly trips exceeded my expectations. My daughter absolutely loves being able to explore the local beaches or community on these trips. We have loved being part of the preschool community and feel very lucky to have found this beautiful space for our tamariki.”
