About Park Road Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Park Road Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“We found an amazing Playcentre family here. We were here for about 2 years total and all 3 of my kids loved it here. My oldest son went here until he was 6 and he felt welcomed and supported even tho he was the oldest one by 1 year during his last year there. There was lots of older tamariki playing with younger ones. It truly felt like a family getting together and making memories. I highly recommend it!”
“Our family joined Park Road Play Centre recently. It is a great place for our son to grow, learn and try lots of new things. He loves it! It has also been a great way to meet other families and the education they offer has helped me learn how I can best help children learn through play.”
“We love Park Road Playcentre. It has been our ‘other’ home since moving to Palmerston North. My children love that I can be involved in their play, and I love how I’m surrounded by like minded parents and caregivers who love my children as much as I do.”
“Park Road Playcentre is a great place for little ones to grow and explore. The families were so welcoming from our very first visit and my son and I both really look forward to going each week.”
“Park Road Playcentre is a brilliant early childhood option for parents wanting a special, quality education experience with their children. A super supportive, caring, welcoming community.”
