What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at MyKindy Onehunga, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“I initially chose my kindy because of the atmosphere, however my daughter has been coming here for over a year now and in that time she has grown so much. All the staff here, even the manager treats every child and whanau with respect. They very diverse, celebrating not only the children’s birthdays but also different cultural days or celebrations. My kindy staff are truly amazing, they care for all the children equally and with so much care, love and respect. I cannot recommend my kindy enough. Truly an amazing place to send your children.”
“Mykindy, Onehunga was so close to our home. That was the primary reason to opt here for my son. But now, even after we moved our home a bit far, we don’t want to change kindy because I don’t think my son is gonna be more happier than Mykindy. Mykindy in Onehunga is big. Plenty of space, our child won’t get exhausted. The quality they have in their service is extraordinary. Teachers in Mykindy are so lovely and friendly. They observe what children are interested in and communicate well with the Whanau. They share photos and videos of what our children doing and making. They use checklists and screening tests to find out whether any children need more support. I am so happy that my son is growing/learning in a culturally diverse place where the teachers respect each families culture and celebrate different cultural festivals. Mykindy is awesome.”
“The staff at My Kindy Onehunga are super welcoming and they have a great atmosphere for the little ones. They comfort my son when he is upset (usually when I leave) and cater to his extra medical requirements. I initially chose this kindy as it is located in a great location and very close to home. Awesome kindy, filled with diverse children whose cultures are celebrated and acknowledged! Staff are very communicative with the parents. Lovely place, highly recommend!”
“Initially my reason for choosing MyKindy Onehunga was because it is close to home, convenient as my son attends school across the road as well. My daughter has been attending MyKindy Onehunga for a wee while now. She loves it and has learnt so much, made new friends and is just so confident. The staff are always so welcoming and friendly. But the thing that stands out to me the most is the culture. Keep up the good work!”
“Initially, I enrolled my daughter in MyKindy Onehunga for the reason that it was the closest one to our place. But as day goes by, I knew I made the right decision. I can see how comfortable my daughter is with her Aunties and her little friends and how she is carefully looked after. One thing that stands out about MyKindy is that they treat each and every child like their whanau. I remember one of her Aunties cried when she witnessed my daughter's first steps. To me, that is just a testament of how genuine their care and love is for all the kids. Everyday, I leave my daughter to them equipped with assurance that she will be in safe hands. Moreover, daily, I know that she will gain new skills and learnings from her aunties and friends.”
