About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Lollipops Waiwhetu, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Great daycare! teachers are dedicated, caring and know their tamariki well. the facility isnt flash but they can be so creative with their Diys and imagination which encourage the kids to think, create and grow. There are so many awesome activities have been incorporated such as yoga, play ball, arts. The teachers are amazing with teaching kids Emotional Intelligence such as asking for help, what to do when others took your toys, how to resolve conflicts, self expressing; and also manners such as tidy up after yourself, say please, giving “kuggles” / kias and huggles, not being loudy, and of course toilet training. If you are looking for a day care where your kids love to turn up everyday to be themselves, to have fun and grow, Waiwhetu lollipop is highly recommended. We cant thank the teachers there enough for what they’ve donefor our tamariki.”
