What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Kidz First Medicalcare, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“First and last we will be coming here. My son fell off his scooter and busted his lip wide open and it was literally hanging out of his mouth and after getting his temp and weight taken by the nurse we were told to wait for the doctor. We waited for 4-5 hours before I went and asked how long and the nurse said there's 2 people who have come in and will be before us as their case was more urgent. More babies and older kids were coming in and it seemed like our wait was even longer! My son started to cry as his mouth and head was in pain and all they gave was ibuprofen! We ended up leaving and my son had to wait until morning until we were able to go to starship where he got seen and taken to a ward then had lip reconstruction surgery all in the matter of 7 hours! This hospital is so slow and useless”

“Great experience with the Surgical team in Kidz First. Play specialist explained to our daughter in away she would understand with what will be happening etc. All staff were helpful and cheerful and great little banter with us parents to lighten the mood. Daughters favorite part was her ride to theater. I think his name was Rod maybe have this wrong so much going on however he joked around and made the whole mood so much fun that she went under anesthetic in a good mood. We can not fault the team on the Kidz Surgical floor at all. There was a feedback form we forgot to fill out as to why I have come here to say a huge thank you for making this experience a good one even though our daughter had a fractured elbow.”

“To all the doctors, nurses and support workers in in the kids first ED- from a mom who had two overnight admissions with two of my kids within a week’s span. One a suspected accident related issue and the other a medical issue. You all are superstars, doing your best and beyond tirelessly even in the middle of the night to make sure each and every child is taken care of. Your services are nothing short of legendary. With sincerity I can say both my children were attended and treated to the best care in the best possible duration. Thanks a million once again.”
