About Kaukapakapa Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Kaukapakapa Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“My son loves it, and more importantly, I love it! The people there are so friendly and like minded and we have a real little community feel of people going through the same things. Highly recommend”
“Kaukapakapa Playcenter is such a great place for all kids aged 0-6 .Its tucked away behind the tennis courts at Sinclair park .Lots of great resources,an amazing outside area ,tons of bikes and tricycles, soft play, carpentry, loads of messy play and most importantly a awesome place to find that village everyone talks about ! I love that you can do lots of messy play and painting but not sacrifices your own carpet ! It's also a huge benefit being able to host birthday party's there even if your not a member. The fact this centre has a Kaimahi means you can really concentrate on playing with your kids and building friendships. Its been a asset to the community for over 50 years and I hope it continues for another 50 years !”
