What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at House of Wonder Cambridge by Busy Bees, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Absolutely love House of Wonder. Since my son has started there he has learnt so much. The staff are all amazing and kind and he absolutely adores them. They come up with so many wonderful activities for the children to do and the meals made there are yum! Communication between me and the staff is always great too. Highly recommend if you're looking for somewhere to send your little ones!”
“My daughter has been at HOW Busy Bees Lakewood in Cambridge for the past 2.5 years. She absolutely loves it. So much messy play and the outside areas are so much fun. She runs to her room full speed every morning. Can’t speak highly enough of the staff! Also the food looks and smells amazing with a great variety. We will definitely be sending our son when his daycare journey starts.”
“In this current climate it is no longer acceptable to not teach children their role in looking after the environment. Several parents questioned house of wonders recycling program with zero response, even after emailing Busy Bees head office.(see below for amendment). Response to parents concerns is limited regarding children coming to school using bad language and violent behaviour. Fellow parents have taken their child out of the pre school because of this. The faults in the approach, communication and organisation are partially balanced out by several very good members of staff who work very hard. Again, unfortunately many do leave and staff turnover is frequent. Initial review was 1 star yet I changed to 3 as I was contacted by a member of upper management from Busy Bees. They showed interest in how I felt I had not been heard and asked whether I believed issues had been resolved. I fed back I had received emails and social post from the Cambridge branch outlining the steps and changes that would be made. Together we agreed that changes take time to implement and I would have to wait to see. In addition, the manager felt the importance to plan to visit the Cambridge centre to check in on the environmental changes and support staff any way they could regarding staffing and children behaviour. On the whole a much appreciated response and plan going forward.”
