What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Fotumalama Aoga Amata, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“The worst preschool that one of my children has ever experienced. My son only lasted 3 days with no willingness from the unprofessional staffs to try and give him the full support he needed. Instead they let him cried himself to sleep, no feeding no milk, just absolute disgusting by the whole experience as the result my son ended up in the hospital suffering from diarrhea and ear infections from crying as per our GP. I don't know if they are all qualified as none of them have experience of meeting the kids needs. To top it off, when I laid a complaint with the supervisor, she did admit that if kids don't want to eat they will just leave it. This is so not on.”
