About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Educare Orewa, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Absolutely fantastic place, staff here are really lovely and the children(well my children) love them and educare. This is not one of the over the top politically correct places, The food servered to the children is amazing smells great the times I have been in there, I wish I had these meals when I was at kindy.”

“All the reviews were from before the kindergarten was sold to Educare. The situation is completely different now. The children are climbing tree ladders very high, but no staff are outside supervising; they're all inside. My child is constantly bullied by two other children, coming home every day with sand in his head, sometimes in his eyes, or his clothes covered in it, and the staff completely ignore it. They just want to get off work on time and don't care what the children are doing.”

“This is an incredible day care centre. I struggled to find a high quality centre locally who could take both my children - until we found Kinz and I'm so happy my children are here now. The staff here are wonderful and the facilities are great. The management team are hands on and involved and the teachers in the rooms are fab! My children are very happy here and it's great see how much fun they are having as the develop and grow :)”
