About Childsteps Early Learning Centre
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Childsteps Early Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Our son started at the centre in March 2025 when he was 8 months old, and he has absolutely thrived since day one. The teachers are incredibly warm, kind, and caring, and it's clear they genuinely love what they do. The facilities are always spotless and well maintained. It’s been such a joy to see our son become more social—he lights up with excitement every time we arrive. We couldn’t be happier with the care he’s receiving. Thank you to all the lovely teachers in the Aroha room!”
“Amongst the 4 child care centres we have tried, Childsteps is one wholesome place for your kid. Their programme is structured well to groom your child for school. The centre manager Jon, teachers Gene, Ina and the team are lovely, you can blindly trust them that your child is in safe hands. They make learning fun laying the foundation for school program.”
