What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Arohanui Early Childhood Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“My guy jumped off today 🥲The end of an era. Arohanui Childcare have been my family, supported me throughout the journey as a first time mother. They moved mountains for my son and I and visited us in our home when things were tough. Most importantly Arohanui supported my son in every inch of his being. They, (specifically Scott) saw him flourish, understood him and brought out the best in him. They gave him time, love and direction. I will be forever grateful for the unconditional support of Arohanui 🥰 Thank you for the best possible start to motherhood and for going above and beyond for my boy.”
“My son really enjoyed his time at Arohanui! The outdoor space was amazing and allowed him to explore and play all day. The centre staff were very caring and embraced our family as part of theirs. When I was looking for a preschool I wanted somewhere that would allow my child to be truly himself, find a sense of belonging, make social connections, have fun, and be well looked after. Arohanui ticked all those boxes.”
“Our youngest boy has attended both Harinui & Arohanui and we have nothing but praise for both - 5-star experience all around! The staff & facilities are excellent, plus they offer a great range of day trips and family events throughout the year too. Although there's plenty of natural space at both centres (yay for climbing trees!) - an added bonus is their very special wilderness area, Ngaherenui, with all its natural features - and a flying fox that the kids love! We've adored our time with both teams and will miss having them in our lives now that primary school is beckoning.”
“Our two boys absolutely love going to Harinui and Arohanui, having two boys with no shortage of energy they thrive off the large outdoor space. Their social skills have flourished in their time here. It has been so nice to see them make so many strong connections not just with their peers but their teachers as well. The staff are great at giving regular feedback on how their days have been and at providing their professional input on how to deal with some of the more challenging phases of their development. Can’t recommend this daycare enough.”
“Awesome daycare, incredible caring staff and the best outdoor area I’ve seen!! Our little one has been attending Harinui, and then Arohanui for 2 years now and has been thriving from the start. It was a hugely welcome change after poor experience at another centre when we lived in Auckland! As well as nurturing a love of nature and compassion for others, the centre’s philosophies have helped him gain confidence and learn amazing new skills like woodwork. Would 100% recommend.”
