What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. “We, as parents, are very thankful to all the wonderful teachers and staff of Aro Arataki. The school is really a great place of learning for the kids. They provide them nutritious meals and gives them the opportunity to explore and play, with lots of time outdoors and field trips. We have seen our child flourish in all aspects. They have earned our trust that we can always leave our child in a safe environment. We have worked stress-free for years knowing that our child is in good hands, thank you for giving us the peace of mind. Most importantly, our child grew up carrying good values and respect- that we cannot take all the credits for, because we know that the teachers were alongside parenting with us on this journey. Thank you to the teachers and staff of Aro Arataki! We will definitely miss you. Ngā mihi nui ki a koe!”

“Aro Arataki is a magical place with with wonderful staff! Right beside Cornwall park which allows the children to experience lovely countryside. Our two boys (now just over 2 1/2 and 1 years of age) attended here from the age of 6/7 months until recently when we moved home to Ireland. I wish Aro Arataki was in Ireland! We feel so lucky to have found such a special place for them to start their school journey and learn about the world! I can't speak highly enough about the place and the staff. Amazing baby room (Kiwi room) where the children are encouraged to explore and be adventurous all the while being safely monitored. And amazing toddler room (Kea room) where the curious little minds are always kept busy by the splendour of different activities they have access to. We didn't make it to Tui room but from seeing the children play and getting to know the teachers I know it is another wonderful part of the centre. A really unique child centred place. Thanks so much for everything”

“This is such an amazing place. My daughter is learning so much here. It's a joy to see how she's become more social, developed new skills and how independent she is now. It's all thanks to the wonderful teachers! They are truly awesome, so caring and know so much about kids' development and learning.”
