About Albany Community Preschool
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Albany Community Preschool, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“My daughter thrived here. When I first visited the place the vibe was calm and the children looked happy exploring. She started at 2 and she wasn’t able to speak English but within a few weeks she picked it up and the teachers really made sure she was taken care of. She made lots of friends in different ages (love how all ages are in one) and always was excited to go to preschool. They have so many amazing activities set up daily and make an effort to make the children’s day special. Such a great first foundation and core memory experience for my daughter. The team is strong, each have different talents and the communication is great. Kate the manager and Toni the office lady are also very lovely. I built a good relationship with everyone here and was really sad we had to leave because we moved house to a different area. I highly recommend this place :) No better place than here.”
“From the first moment we walked into Albany Community Preschools' gates, we have felt welcomed and 'taken care of'. The teachers are all so lovely and warm. They have taken the time to get to know our son and he is excited to go to Preschool each day. He has even asked to go to school on the weekend and when I pick him up he wants to stay a little longer. Cannot recommend this preschool more!”
“All four of my children have been through Albany Preschool and the same teachers who looked after my eldest (now 16) are looking after my youngest child 12 years later. I can't can recommend this preschool enough, my children have been so happy here, the teachers truly love and care about the children. They do amazing activities, have fun trips outside of school and they have animals that my kids have really enjoyed learning to hold and watch hatch! The facilities are modern and clean and the outdoor area is the best I've seen on the North Shore. We love this preschool so much we travel from Milford to Albany for our last child. Best preschool ever :)”
“Albany Community Preschool is definitely one of the best preschool in North Shore. The teachers are super-kind and care to my 4-year-old son. They recognize the development of my son and communicate it to me every time I come to drop or pick my son up. I am glad to enroll my son in this lovely school.”
“I cannot recommend Albany Community Preschool enough. My daughter spent years at a private daycare crying every single day not wanting to go. The switch to Albany Community Preschool was like an instant transformation. The only tears she has now is because she doesn't want to leave to come home. My regret is not moving her sooner. All the teachers are nurturing and are qualified professionals. The activities there are endless and the children are free to wander around and discover things for themselves in their own time. There is also so much space for the children to play. Thank you Albany Community Preschool :)”
