About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Wise Owl Early Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“My boy has fallen in love with this place. He has grown so much since going here and continues to learn. The home feeling you get when you walk in makes u realise it's going to be the best place to send your babies. They have amazing food and he comes home tired, full and so happy. They definitely know how to get the toddler boy energy out. I will highly recommend this place if you want your baby to have lots of messy play, learning lots of new skills, the challanges of trying somthing new with help. The staff are amazing there and work with you to make drop offs easy.”

“My two daughters attended Wise Owl Early Learning Centre for the better part of 5 years and I wouldn't have had it any other way. Annette and her team have created a beautiful warm homely environment with tamariki firmly top priority. I absolutely love the kitchen in the heart of the centre with wholesome kai on the menu daily. My kids were encouraged in play that they enjoyed - even if it was preferably messy! I collected so many parenting nuggets of wisdom from the kaikako and had a tear in my eye on graduation. Highly recommended if you value a holistic learning environment with with natural toys and resources.”

“Our daughter joined at 1yo and loves it. The teachers are happy, kind, and take a genuine interest in our daughter. She has a great time and I know she is well cared for. Also - it is great having the food provided! I think our daughter is less fussy on food now (yay) and what a time saver not having to prepare lunch and snacks in advance.”

“We found this gem 3 years ago when we were at the park next to it, we walked in and instantly found the perfect daycare for our baby boy. We love how nurturing the teachers are and how they support every childs individuality. Fast forward, our 2 sons go to Wise Owl and it is their second home. We love the variety of play and activities, healthy and yummy meals for the kids and most especially the support they do for our whanau. As a mom being away from my kids gives me anxiety at times. But when I know that they are well taken care of, I feel at peace. -Dacyons”
