About The Gardens Early Childhood Education
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at The Gardens Early Childhood Education, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“What a relief it was to find such a great daycare after checking out several childcare centres in the area. My son seems to enjoy being part of the centre and the teachers are all very welcoming. Awesome big outdoor area for the children to play. There are also pet animals (Rabbit & Parrot) on-site.”
“We love the gardens center, always so welcoming and approachable and it speaks volumes that our little girl is so excited at drop off :)”
“The Gardens ECE is a very friendly, warm and inviting centre. My son really enjoys his time here as he never wants to leave. The staff are lovely, amazing and very approachable. I also find that they are easy to talk to aswell and have the time to do so which is a big part of the effective communication between parents/whanau and teachers. I love hearing about what my son has been up to each day and his learning. This centre has a great playground in the toddlers with a tree house and in the older children an awesome plane that the children can go inside and feels what it's like to be in one with a tree house as well and of course some loveable animals a rabbit, a friendly parrot bird and some guinea pigs which the children love to spend time with. I know they take great care of every single child in their care and it makes me feel at ease when I drop my son off knowing that he loves it here. The teachers have always been very welcoming towards my family and it feels like a second home for us.”
“No air conditioner, its peak summers and the kids are sweating not sure why the owners haven't set up any air conditioner, the ceiling fans are too high, and the infants were very exhausted, very disappointed at this daycare”
“Went to the childcare was really disappointed to see the condition of the 2 year old kids who were running around with runny nose while there were so many teachers to take care of them.the toys and the condition of the room was very old not worth paying so much money. Please teachers we leave our kids in your hands not to see them running around with not even having their nose wiped this is how other kids get sick”
