About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Te Ōki Early Learning, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Crackerjacks Preschool is amazing, the staff are friendly and knowledgeable. They have a full time on site manager / owner who knows every child personally and is very hands on. They care and it is our child's second home, they do fun activities and outings and alot of learning too. I can not recommended Crackerjacks enough! If you are looking for a fun loving centre look no further!”

“All three of my children have attended/ still attending Crackerjacks, So I've experienced all three class rooms and their teachers , I always recommend the Centre to others and will continue too. Lovely staff that are all passionate about their mahi and the kids. The owner (Abbey) works in the center and is often seen in the classrooms and at reception, its a nice touch to support a local family and their business.”

“My son enjoys his time at daycare, teachers are amazing, theres quiet a few so the child to teacher ratio is good. Management try their best to accomodate your individual needs reguarding hours and helped me get through my hectic schedule as a student. They are really good at communicating and managing sickness so that you can continue to drop your child off in a sick free environment. The set up is really cool, it has a large backyard for your little explorers with animals in the sorrounding paddocks. Its a safe and fun environment for your child. 😊”

“Can definitely recommend Crackerjacks pre-school! Have never had any concerns about leaving our children there, over the last 7 years we have been part of this centre. The teachers put their hearts into caring for the children, as does the owner. She is always present and involved, and is proactive if any children need extra support with development. (And a great councilor/friend/encourager to tired mums also) The food they provide is always nourishing and hearty, and all I have ever needed to send with the children is spare changes of clothes for after their messy fun!”
