About Songbird Early Childhood Centre
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Songbird Early Childhood Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“My son started at Songbird when he was 4&1/2 and I wish he had started earlier! The teachers are wonderful, they were all very quick to bond with him, learn his interests, and even remember the names of his siblings! The centre itself is fantastic, with a huge outside play area with trees, sandpit, swings, climbing equipment, bikes, a mud kitchen... and so on. When in the backyard you have no idea that you’re next to a main road. Inside it’s spacious and clean, with children’s artwork on the walls and plenty of toys to keep children busy & learning. I’m hoping my next child will go there when he turns two.”
“Lovely, kind and caring ECE centre. Rebecca and Dan have a wonderful team of teachers who help make this the really special place it is. Loved our time at Songbird and can highly recommend it. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐”
