About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Rising Stars Preschool, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“The teachers are so lovely and approachable. They were very interactive with the kids, painting, waterplay, obstacle courses, picnics outside. Absolute bonus they provide an afternoon snack. They also offered us their drop off service. Really the full package, thank you so much!”
“As an immigrant,It frightens me as a mother for my children to be exposed to an unpleasant environment and experience. Rising Stars made my children comfortable and was attentive to their needs. I was impressed how my children improved on their speech, motor skills and interactions towards other people. They love going to school and comes home happy.”
“My 2-year old son Raphael enjoyed going to Rising Stars Pre-school everyday. He was excited to be picked up the Rising Stars van in the morning and have a day full of fun in the sports centre. We would highly recommend Rising Stars Pre-school as they are not just affordable (free 20 hrs ECE for children 2 yrs and up), they also promote active play to enhance learning. The kaiako are also very approachable and friendly.”
“I love their point of difference with their sports court facilities and dedicated sports teachers. This has been a real asset for our son, especially on those wet, winter days we get here in Taranaki!”
“My Daughter loved her time at Rising Stars. The activities set up by the sports coaches were a fav for her & the sports coaches were always so encouraging. I loved the large indoor space so even on wet days there was plenty of room for the kids to run around. I can’t fault the staff, they were all so kind and attentive and you could tell they really cared for the kids.”
