“Portobelo is an amazing preschool. The teachers and staff are welcoming, friendly, and will always go above and beyond to ensure you and your Whānau are looked after. Kathey (the head teacher in the over 2's) is such a wonderful, passionate, hardworking, attentive, friendly, kind, caring and loving teacher. She has made my son's transition to the over 2's an absolute dream. My son does not go to others easily, or like being away from me (mum). But with Kathey as his teacher, I've seen a positive shift in him, he gets excited to see her, gives her a BIG hug, and happily waves goodbye. A true reflection of her manaakitanga, and the time, energy and dedication she gives to the children to ensure their diverse needs and aspirations are met. I also love the fact they have a lovely chef who cook's the tamariki nutritious, wholesome and healthy Kai. Not to mention they also supply nappies and wipes, taking a huge load off for parents. Thank you Portobelo for taking great care of our tamariki... you are all incredible, and we are extremely grateful for everything you do.”

“We highly rate Portobelo! We have children in the preschool and nursery. We are consistently impressed with the caring, attentive, playful and professional nature of the teachers. There is regular communication on what activities the kids have been up to and each day at pick up they make an effort to let us know something special about their day. Their emotional and physical wellbeing is readily taken care of and the communication is efficient with regards to this. Our kids have developed bonds with their teachers and speak positively of them in our home, they really make it a great place. The set up is homely, yet modern, with great natural back yard with plenty of room - seperately for the nursery and preschool. Our kids strengths are supported, our boy is free to create amazing things and develop his problem solving skills. And our wee girl is provided with care she needs to develop independence. With regular events, we feel a part of the Portobelo community and it feels like a second family for our kids. If you are looking for a caring, enriching environment for your tamariki look no further!”

“My daughter absolutely loves going to Portobelo. All of the teachers are so kind and nurturing and provide wonderful experiences for her to engage in every day. The outdoor environment is amazing with real grass, flower gardens and trees to climb! It’s like her home away from home. We also love that they provide nappies and wipes and will be providing food soon as well!”

“Such a fantastic early childhood centre! Our wee boy started when he was just over 18 months old and he settled in so well thanks to the most caring staff! The nursery is fully renovated with fantastic toys and equipment for the children to use and discover. The whole centre has a very homely feel which we love about it. The outside area is also amazing with plenty for the kids to explore and run around. All the teachers have been so caring and welcoming to both our son and our family. The preschool also looks to be an amazing space that has recently been renovated, we will get to see the full benefits of this when our son transitions there shortly - very excited for this.
