About New Windsor Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at New Windsor Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Great place for my son - he has been going there since he was 1 and still enjoying! lots of resources, so many friends - new and already old - and a couple of more years to come. Very supportive community, lovely outdoors area with huge sandpit with the clear roof over it for keeping the outdoor play accessible even in rainy days - and my son loves playing outside!”
“A lovely, well-resourced Playcentre with nice indoor-outdoor flow. My child loves the massive diggers in the sandpit, the swings and the mini bike track. I love that the centre is welcoming of all cultures, languages and caregiving arrangements so there are quite a few grandparents who attend with their grandkids. It’s a very relaxed environment.”
“My daughter spent a very happy couple of years at New Windsor Playcentre. The facilities are great with a wide variety of activities available for all preschool ages - sand pit, toys, painting, crafts, books etc. We especially appreciated the "messy play" opportunities that kids can't usually get at a daycare. The people were lovely - welcoming, friendly and supportive. Being a mum of preschoolers is hard but at Playcentre there was always someone to talk to. The real value is in the relationships you and your children can build with other families. I encourage anyone who is considering early childhood education options in the area to visit NWPC and see if it's a fit for their whanau”
“I visited today. Great resources for the tamariki. They were having fun making snacks at the kitchen bench, tipping and pouring water outside in the sun, and creating playdough pizzas. Lovely centre.”
“We had our first visit today the environment is great. It's exactly what I've been looking for. Location is great as we are local. Parents and grandparents are very friendly. My nearly miss 3 year old enjoyed herself today she had fun exploring the grounds. Had some interaction with some other children was great. We are definitely going back again.”
