About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Mountaineers Childcare & Education, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Being an anxious first time mum, i was extremely hesitant putting my precious boy into a kindy. I wanted somewhere kind, homely and most importantly loving. I can confidently say thats what we have experienced at Mountaineers. From day 1 every single staff member said hello as soon as you walked through those doors. Every staff member was interacting and doing things with children. This is a sight we see often walking though. A beautiful balance of encouraging independence yet assistance, encouragement and loving arms. Not only that but theyre constantly doing upgrades to the kindy which is awesome to see. Expanding and adapting to their current needs. The kids have so much to do. My son has been in the "baby room" for under 2s for 4 months now. Linda and Kate are absolutely effortlessy amazing. I often sit and watch my son play. I can see how comfortable and loved he is in this environment. Kate and Linda are easy to talk to, constantly have whats best for my son and also me on their minds. They truly have made this transition a beyond words easy one. Thank you for making my Boy and I feel so loved, supported and blessed.”

“Such a great space, has a really large outside area for the children to run, play and explore. The teachers are absolutely lovely, our son loves it here and wouldn't go anywhere else.”
