About Mananui Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Mananui Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Love this play centre! Felt so welcome from the very first day and there's always fun activities for the kids.”
“Such a lovely space, with a wee ponderous village of people. Love it here.”
“It’s so great to have somewhere to take my kids to play on a Friday! My 3-year-old and 9-month-old both love this place. My baby started her Playcentre journey when she was just about 10 days old, and I’m so grateful for the help and support I’ve received from the lovely people there.”
“A great little place to discover your village. My family really enjoyed our 3 years here. There is a wonderful native bush boardwalk that flanks the centre, it is well resourced and the people are wonderfully kind, warm and friendly. Come and check it out for yourself and discover your village too.”
“Love this place! Such a friendly welcoming group of parents and children with lots of options for wonderful learning and play for all.”
