About Little Magpies Childcare Centre
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Little Magpies Childcare Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“They are just amazing My daughter loves it there The teachers are so welcoming ❤️❤️☺️☺️”
“Had a bad experience with this agency. I was looking for home-based childcare for my 1 year old, as I needed to start work. I was taken to meet an educator and decided to go with her. Everything was agreed upon, I signed all the documents, and two days before the start date, I was told that the educator didn't have a spot available. I was given a call by the childcare consultant who told me they would find another spot for my child, but I have never heard back from them. Not even a courtesy call to ask if I'd found another educator. All of this when I had to join work the next Monday. Extremely displeased with their service.”
“I had 2 children go through little magpies my youngest still currently there. We all absolutely love it. There is so much provided for the children's needs food nappies ect, the teachers are amazing with my children, it's obvious they genuinely like and care for them. The reception staff are great to deal with always accommodating to my wants and needs. They help with winz forms and updates on changes ect so there's no guess work for myself. I highly reccomend joing the little magpie family your kids will thank you for it!!”
“We have a 3yr old in one room & a 1 year old in another room, we've been there loyally for just over a year. The team are all absolutely wonderful; very welcoming and kind, the center consistently has a really bubbly positive vibe and they're constantly updating and improving the environment and experience for the children. I cannot recommend Little Magpies highly enough! :)”
“Audrey Walker (Tamatea) has been super wonderful and become a part of the family with us for the last 3 ½ years that our boy has been in her care. Can you please pass on to the team and management how exceptional Audrey is as an educator and nurturer. Audrey goes above and beyond to ensure the kids have fun outings every day, are exposed to wider social interaction thanks to both Little Magpies programmes and others, have a wide variety of play equipment and art supplies at the ready, and receive excellent in home care. How wonderful it is that she has created a purpose-built space in her home also. I am so pleased we chose Audrey for in home care instead of centre-based, way back when. Thank you also to Amanda for the effort and care she has put in for our boy along the way too! If any prospective parent looking to place their child in Audrey’s care wishes to talk to me to discuss our experience, I am happy to be contacted. Now that she has a spare space available I am sure it will get snaffled up in no time!”
