What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. “I would highly recommend Kidsfirst Cashmere! Since starting at kindy about 6 months ago my 3 year old has just loved it. We have just finished holidays and the last 3 days of holidays she was asking every day if it was time to got to Kindy yet! When it finally got to Monday she was awake and asking straight away to get dressed and go to kindy! I think that says it all - she loves going! As a parent it is always a nice place to visit with the kids always busy doing something and the environment is calm because there's enough space and interesting things for them to all find something to do. I also love how much outside play opportunity there is and that there is an opportunity for the bigger ones to get offsite to the local bush area.”

“This is a great kindy. It has a huge outdoor area including a large covered area which is good for when it's raining. There are so many different activities set up to keep the kids busy. My daughter loves coming home with crafts she's made using the glue gun! The hours are perfect for my 4year old as she doesn't come home too tired and over stimulated!”

“My children had an absolute blast attending kidsfirst Cashmere. We couldn't thank them enough for taking such great care of our kids and helping them learn and grow! Kylie and her team are so great and willing to go that extra mile to get to know our children and finding out what makes them happy and allowing them to be themselves so they can get the most out of their kindergarten experience. I'd 100% recommend anyone to go and check it out and enroll! You won't regret it :)”

“Such a fantastic kindy. The teachers are wonderful and kind - they spent time getting to know us as a family, and followed and supported our kids interests. The environment is the best - an amazing outdoor space, and calm indoor area. Our two children loved their kindy days, and as a family we felt welcomed into the kindy community. I was also really impressed with the support provided and additional visits facilitated by the teachers when we transitioned to school.”
