What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Kid Country Kumeu, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“The kaiako here are fantastic. From the baby room to kindy, we’ve loved every stage and couldn’t recommend this ECE highly enough. My boy has the best time, communication is frequent and thorough, the food always smells delicious, policies/updates are regularly communicated, the spaces are always clean, the activities set up are creative, resourceful, stimulating and fun! You’re always greeted with a friendly face, the minute you step into the centre. Best kaiako, best centre!”
“The staff are absolutely amazing and so kind and caring. My daughter loves it there and looks forward to going every day. I've noticed a big difference in her learning and confidence. Shes talking so much more and always comes home sharing new things she has learnt. I also love how the Centre celebrates all cultures and embraces Te Ao Māori in such a beautiful and natural way. It feels like a place where every child is valued and supported. I'm glad we found this Centre.”
“The kaiako here are incredible - they’re caring, patient, and genuinely invested in each child’s growth and wellbeing. My daughters development has grown rapidly in the 9 months she has been attending Kid Country and it is amazing to see how much she is learning each and every day 🦋 Communication with whānau is great too - we always feel included and informed. We love reading about her adventures via story park! As parents who have recently gone through a significant loss, the team were beyond supportive, accomodating and caring during that time which meant the world to us both 🌼🍄 It’s such a comfort knowing our little love is surrounded by such nurturing kaiako who treat her like one of their own. Highly recommend Kid Country Kumeu to any whānau looking for a loving, supportive daycare. 🌿💛”
“Our whānau have been part of the Kid Country Community since 2021, with our youngest in his final few months before starting school in 2026. From day one, we have been welcomed and both boys cared for, loved and provided with amazing experiences during their time at KCK. The kaiako and all staff take the time to get to know the kids and their personalities, setting up activities and catering to their needs on a daily basis. Communication has always been great and the time taken to share learning stories and magic moments with each term are so appreciated. The lovely ladies at the front desk are warm, always up for a chat and so responsive to requests and needs KCK is inclusive and celebrates diversity, through the many cultural celebrations and learning throughout the year. Highly recommend all locals to consider this centre for childcare.”
“The absolute best daycare/kindy around! My eldest son has been at Kid Country since he was 15 months old and is just about to start school - we’ve never had an issue the entire time. My youngest started at 10 months and was welcomed and loved from when he was brought in as a newborn at kindy drop off. The staff love and care about the kids so much, it’s truly like a second family! The support they provide is amazing and are so thoughtful and kind. The food is amazing, Gilly is incredible. The rooms are set up so well and have such a variety of things to suit any child’s play. I could go on and on about how great they are, and I will miss them all so much when my youngest goes to school!”
