“Hill Street daycare has the most amazing and caring teachers. The way they communicate with children is something you do not see quite often. We moved to another city a while ago, and it was really difficult to choose a daycare after having a great experience with Hill Street. If you are reading this and you were offered a place for your little one at Hill Street, you are lucky :).”

“Great daycare centre in the CBD up on a hill behind the parliment. It is a community based centre, meaning not for profit and parents to contribute. They only offer full time positions, not part time. They provide everything, food included, all you need to bring is nappies. You can also bring sippy cup, sleep bag or blanket for nap, should you wish to, but these are all provided by the centre. All teachers are qualified carers, some even have master degree in early childhood education. They are all super friendly, error report on ministry of education's website looks convincing. I can't speak enough of the level of care they offer my baby. Bonding with them seem so natural and effortless. The level of trust the kids develop with them is incredible. Their professionalism really put us working parent's mind at ease, knowing our baby is in trusted hand. However, the wait list of LONG! I enrolled my baby when I found out I was pregnant. He only just got in 3months before I return to work. Highly recommend.”

“I saw about 8 early childhood centres before I found this one, and it was a clear winner. I cannot speak highly enough of the quality of teachers - they have such positive attitudes, with a huge love for learning that they share with everyone around them (including me). They talk to children rather than at them. My 20 month old loves it there.”

“A really amazing childcare centre, really thoughtful teachers, great environment, and low student/child ratios. I particularly like that the focus of the centre isn't just about watching kids for 8 hours a day, but about actively noticing, fostering, and participating in kids' learning and curiosity. Wonderful to have a centre that has kids from a huge range of backgrounds and a teaching staff that celebrates and respects those backgrounds.”

“We are thrilled that our 10 month old is at Hill Street Childcare now that mum and dad are both back at work. We love that it is a community run centre, that they support my continued breastfeeding is wonderful (they just text me when I'm needed and I head over), that they refer to all the children so warmly and have such strong bonds with each little one eases any anxiety I had about returning to work. My child has never turned his nose up at any of the food on offer and have introduced foods I would never have even thought to (the fish pie has legendary status amongst the wee ones). I appreciate the separate outdoor space they have for the under 2s and that they make use of it at any opportunity (as long as it isn't raining). The teachers are excellent and always have age and stage appropriate learning and play opportunities available. Hill Street is a well-run, community-focused, supportive environment for children (and parents!). It is warm, nurturing, and our child is happy there. We love it.”
