About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at High Five Care and Learning, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“My son literally lunges out of my arms to be with the teachers at high five. If your looking for a relaxed homie environment with excellent nutritious food I highly recommend high five. Tepa is so welcoming, warm and kind hearted I couldn't of asked for a better person to look after our son. She even asked my husband how to say hello in pidgin so she could greet our son in one of his native languages. Tepa, Chantal and team thank you so so much for looking after our kid and we are so sad to be leaving high five :(”

“High Five is an ideal place for your little one to grow happily and learn independance and great values like sharing, helping others, express your feelings in a quite way. My daughter has been there for 2 years and has made incredible progress in language learning, art and dancing! They have a small animal farm and kids can pet "Coco the Rabbit" who is part of the whanau :) They also go to the beach in summer time and they get very close to the sea life and have loads of fun. They have a in-house cook who adapts to your kids needs (allergies or all kind of diet) and kids even get to prepare the food with her sometimes. The team is very devoted and warm and my daughter is happy to leave me in the morning in order to play with her friends or play in the beautifully-maintained yard. I warmly recommend this place!”
