What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Grow and Learn, Castle Kids ELC, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“We love Castle Kids! They have wonderful, gentle and caring staff. My daughter is so excited to go there each week. We used to go to their Ruru centre and after it closed down we tried a different centre in Paraparaumu which was a complete nightmare. We then managed to get a space at Castle Kids Te Moana and couldn't be happier 🥰”

“My son started at Castle Kids when he was 18 months old and he is so happy there. He literally skips through the door each morning to see what fun activities are planned for the day. The teachers go the extra mile to find out the kids interests and tailor activities to suit. The outdoor area is amazing for this age group and I love that they go on bug hunts and get to watch native birds in the trees. It is such a relief to be able to go to work and know that he is happy and cared for in a home away from home :-)”

“My son started at Castle kids nursery when he was roughly 15 months. The teachers were incredible and took him on like their very own, I felt instant comfort from them all. They would send me updates of how he was going and continued that for a long time. Sending him to Castle kids was the best decision I could have made - he made such great friends, learns more and more every day and just generally has so much fun. I’m continuing him in the Castle kids family now he’s off to kindergarten and I’m enrolling my girl at 9 or so months. If I could give them 10 starts I would!! Extremely happy!!!!! Highly highly recommend!!”

“My 2 year old has thrived during her time at the Castle Kids Nursery. She is so well cared for & loved. Would highly recommend to any other parents. The drive from Paraparaumu is not an issue at all.”
