About Grove Street Kindergarten
About Free Kindergarten
Free Kindergartens typically offer sessional or part-day early learning programmes led by fully qualified teachers, following Te Whāriki and emphasising learning through play, social interaction, and community involvement. These centres cater to families seeking high-quality education in a not-for-profit, community-based setting with strong ties to local whānau.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Grove Street Kindergarten, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Expert kind nuturing caring play based teaching. The teachers are very child focused they stop and listen to the kids and support their learning and development. Each teacher has something different to bring to the table. Lara gives lots of cuddles and stories. Melissa brings animals off her farm and sea creatures to look at touch and learn from. Sarah our head teacher is observant and wise she will help your children create a masterpiece at the crafts table. Karen does the Transition To School programme with the 4 year olds and gets them school ready. The older kids become responsible leaders of the kindergarten and look after the younger ones. My wife and I honestly couldn't be happier with Grove St Kindy and all the activities that have been part of on sons day. Our boy has really blossomed this year and is excited to start school next year. We will miss our Grove St whanau this kindergarten is like a family the kids all respect and look after each other. The outdoor area is HUGE and ideal for busy active children. Give Grove St a call and come and have a look around 😊😊😊”
