About Greenhithe Playcentre
About Playcentre
Playcentres are parent-led early childhood services where families work alongside trained educators to support children’s learning through play, offering a warm, community-driven environment. These centres cater to parents who want to be actively involved in their child’s early education, enjoying a supportive, cooperative model that values whānau participation and mixed-age play.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Greenhithe Playcentre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Beautiful looking center but very unwelcoming. Popped in for a chat and was told to leave. Yes I know now you need to book a visit on the Play Center website. The gate said visitors welcome so we popped in to say hi and figure out a time to visit. The lady who was at the gate was not at all welcoming. The second lady who spoke to us was much nicer and have me a quick tour around and discussed activities and times. Will not be back for an official visit.”
“Sign on the gate says All Welcome. Unfortunately not so welcoming if you call in to visit with a 2 year old.”
“A beautiful purpose built centre, with beautiful grounds and a welcoming team of kaiako. My kids have loved being on session. A great space to hire for parties with off-street car parking and heaps for kids to do.”
“Joining this playcentre has been one of the best decisions we made! My son loves being able to socialise and play with alll the different toys and I get some adult interaction as well. Both of us have learned so much already to. Everyone was really welcoming and joining was an easy process.”
“We hosted a birthday party at this centre and it was an absolute hit! The kids can play outside and stay safe within the fence. The kitchen and toilets and indoor incase it rains makes it perfect to have a easy stress free party day.”
