About Geckos Early Learning Centre
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Geckos Early Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“Teachers have been fantastic with my little one. Great space and with at home vibe. My child has built great friendships here and always happy when I drop off and pick up Highly reccomend”
“The most horrible childcare with indecent care for the children. Horrible management skills and just money hungry. They do not file any incident reports whatsoever and will try to rip you off!! I have made a post on the mother’s page and there are over 10 negative comments made about this daycare! The parents know this establishment is unsafe in the care of the tamariki and also the environment and building is appalling. Do not send your kids here the management is poor. The teachers here are also treated horribly which makes it hard for them to care and tend to your kids needs as they are being bullied my the centre manager and owner it’s disgusting.”
“We have had two children attend Geckos Early Childcare Centre over the last 4.5 years, our youngest recently left for school. It is a fantastic pre-school that has given our children the very best start to their education journey. The Kaiako (teachers) have remained consistent during our time with them and they are truly passionate and dedicated in their role. They go above and beyond to meet the tamariki needs, even hosting special events outside work hours. The centre is well placed in a safe and secure central location with easy access and parking. The activities set out every morning are always changing and are fresh and inviting with an emphasis on child lead interest and learning. I would give the centre a 6/5 if i could. The best place for ECE in my opinion.”
“Great team of teachers and love the centre layout, it is the best for my kids”
