About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Foxton Preschool and Nursery, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Such a amazing centre, both my kids love it here, will be sad to see my eldest leave here and go to school after being here for nearly 5yrs. Staff are always so welcoming, accommodating and caring it's like home away from home for my babies. All kaiako are like there aunties/uncles and really show them love. The outdoor environment is beautiful with lots of greenery and plenty of space. Would definitely recommend to others”

“I unfortunately have only had negative experiences here and from talking to other parents in and around Foxton Beach have come to know that these are not isolated events. Coming in to find your child asleep on the middle of the floor next to the doorway with a fever, full diaper and to have the teacher’s not be aware he is there isn’t something that one should have to worry about happening. The referrals we were told would happen regarding teacher aids and speech therapy also hadn’t been done the whole time he was there yet was done day one of his new Kindergarten. I wish I could say something positive about this Kindy but even the minuscule playground is lacking, perhaps the experience here is different for non Autistic children and their parents, but as it stands, this is not a place I would recommend anybody send their child and would absolutely suggest parents look elsewhere.”

“Love this place and so do my kids. Friendly and helpful staff. And hours that work for me. They also have a van that picks everyone up in the morning, if local. Truly grateful for them in our lives.”
