About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Educare Tamahere, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“My son has been there since he was 6 months and loves going. The staff are amazing, knowledgeable and very caring as well as being parent led. They think of exciting and interesting activities for them and he always comes home full of his days! The kai he receives is also wonderful. I'd 100% recommend Educare Tamahere 😀”
“Educare Tamahere has been such a special part of Kaia’s life since she was little. Now at 4, she still bounds in every morning with pure excitement waiting to see her friends and more favourably the teachers. The teachers know her so well—nurturing her confidence, encouraging her curiosity, and embracing her personality. The beautiful, our door spaces and thoughtful activities have helped her grow. Most importantly, I know she’s learning, thriving, and in a safe, caring environment. We feel incredibly lucky to have such an amazing centre as part of her journey.”
“My Son has been going to Tamahere Educare since he was 1 years old and he has loves it so much. The kaiako they have there are fantastic with all children and help my son learn his Te Reo. I recommend this daycare to anyone I speak to. Plus the kai they have is always so delicious and healthy! Highly recommend”
