About Educare Pokeno
About Education & Care Service
Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.
What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Educare Pokeno, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“my niece and nephew go here, they absolutely love it! amazing, friendly staff - definitely recommend 💗”
“Highly recommend Educare Pokeno. Me and my hubby have visited few other places around Pokeno. out of all, we found Educare Pokeno is the best suits us. Big play area, wooden tables and chairs, seperate study area, lots of kids size toilets and big clean kitchen. I can see how they try to clean and tidy the area all the time. Not only the facility, but also the environment and the teachers. When you enter the main door, you will see lovely Di and Tyra welcoming you with smile. Teachers are not only teaching kids how to learn and play but also life skills. Often they get some new toys and play gyms so kids don’t get bored with same things every time. Whenever we have any concern, we talk to the manager Di, and most of time she comes up with solution, or if not she shows us what is happening and what to improve. Gives us the trust and connection between parents and teachers. My daughter can be valued here as she is. She is loving it and always excited to go.”
“Great staff. Obviously better from 2years ago”
“My son loves it there, staff have definitely improved over the few years he has been there. The current team are great 18/08/2023”
“I have raised 6 children and all have been to various daycare facilities in Auckland. Edu care Pokeno staff are not very engaged or caring. Kids always arrive to them warm amd dressed for the winter and come home cold with little clothing and no socks. When asked about where their socks are staff blame the children. 1.5 years of age.? Nap times are not met and they come home tired and grumpy. There are so many lazy comments we have heard from staff that have concerned me. Think twice.”
