What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. My older son started with the SPACE programme when he was 3 months old, joined Playcentre when he was 18 months old and graduated when he was 5 before he transitioned to primary school (SPACE is an informative and supportive pre-Playcentre parenting programme which prepares inexperienced parents with useful skills to enhance the start of their parenting journey). My younger son joined Playcentre at 6 weeks old and still loves every moment there, soaking up countless rich learning experiences. He will graduate next year. I've formed lifelong friendships, given and received timely support in times of need, and have learned valuable skills that I believe have enhanced my parenting techniques beyond measure. Sharing this joyful and sometimes challenging parenting journey with like-minded peers has been a privilege. It's hard to quantify the value of this special organisation. I'm so happy to have been a part of it for this chapter of my life.”
