About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at East Coast Bays Community Creche, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“As I first time mum I was overwhelmed visiting ECE centers but when I was welcomed into ECB Community Creche I felt so at home and knew it was the place for my boy. I now have two boys attending creche and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a safe, nuturing, multicultural, fun and family oriented place to be a part of. My boys love the teachers and the excursions to the park, library and beach etc mean that no 2 days are the same at creche.”

“My twin boys have been at this centre since they were one, and now at two they are absolutely thriving. My two girls also came here when they were younger, so our family has been part of this place for years, and we’ve always had such a good experience. The teachers are so caring and patient, and you can see how much they truly love the kids. All four of my children have grown so much here. The environment is warm, safe and welcoming, and my boys are always excited to go in each morning. We are really grateful for all the support, love and guidance they’ve given our family. I honestly couldn’t recommend them more.”

“As a former parent of the East coast bays community crèche I can say with confidence that this is a place where tamariki/ whānau are valued, children are cherished and nurtured, and learning is had through play. The kaiako are absolute superstars who are responsive to children’s needs while providing a stimulating learning environment. Myself and my own tamariki miss the crèche whānau!”
