About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Curious Minds Early Learning, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Professional with a family feel. My 2 year old son attends Curious Minds two times a week Since early April. In this time he has transitioned from the under 2's into the over 2's. All the teachers have shown my son and family such a beautiful warm welcome. Thanks to Sinead and the teachers we felt at ease knowing our son was well looked after during his time at Curious Minds. For us its the small things that make the difference. For example greeting us by our names when we arrive, taking the time to tell us about his day as well as making sure everyone is happy. I love the spaces the childen have to explore as well as the different table top set ups that the teachers plan to suit their learning. The approach to using up to date technology such as signing in on the ipad to the online forum where parents can read newsletters, weekly menus and learning stories is fabulous as there is no room for error in regards to missing important information. Highly recommend from my family. Thanks Curious Minds.”

“They are absolutely amazing! I have two children of different ages enrolled, and the level of care they receive from the Curious Minds team is just outstanding. The centre is brand new and beautiful. The teachers are so lovely and knowledgeable, my children love them! The manager is so helpful and professional, and has helped us so much through our parenting journey. The owners have nothing but the kids wellbeing in mind. We highly recommend them and we are really proud of being part of the Curious Minds whanau.”
