What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?
20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Central Hastings Early Learning Centre, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

Parent Reviews
“This centre is exceptional. It's clean, well organized with staff that truly want the best outcomes for our Tamariki. I felt like part of the family and so well supported from the moment I made contact to enquire right through to enrollment and the transition to the first day. Can't rave enough about this fabulous center. The learning opportunities that are available here and the spaces are next level (it has a pool and even a splash pad.) If your looking for a spot for your child I would strongly suggest getting in touch with the team and it's so close to the centre of town too so the location is ideal”
“From my stand point as a mother that was excited to start her daughter at this early learning centre it dwindled away today, I had handed in enrolment forms in December to get this year started for us,I done 3 of 4 visits last week, and then came up with my daughter doing her 4th visit today 16.02 so she could start 3days a week from the week starting 19.02 as agreed, unfortunately I come to pick my daughter up after her 3hr stay to be told it may only be one day a week she could do, to then being told she will have to go on the waitlist, During the first few visits, I was the one advising teachers of what was to happen per scheduled visit in their parent handbook to which they weren’t full aware of but agreed to. This is a poor reflection on the new management compared to the old management that my mum dealt with when my younger sisters were there until 2020 the old management and team of teachers were my reason for choosing this facility even under their new management. Also being told at 2 visits where I leave my daughter in their hands to like a surprised tone that ‘she took off her clothes and tipped boxes over’ look my daughter is fresh out of being 2, she gets excited with toys she enjoys playing with and sensory wise, she doesn’t like the feeling of wet clothing which I had mentioned first time, the tone of voice towards the comments were personally felt as if I should be let down for that. This is my personal reflection and feelings to what I have had to deal with and waste time on, I had confidence that staff had understanding of starting her in February from December ‘23, I had confidence that my daughter was to start next week also, so I did not look at any other early childhood centres/kindy, but now I will have to restart this process To Mike and Maria if you’d like to contact me the centre will have my info and I would be happy to meet thank you”
“This centre is fantastic. My 3 year old daughter loved going to centre every day and talked to all the teachers as we entered. Her speech improved lots and her understanding of what was going on around her. She learnt songs and games which she still knows now! Jo, Sarah and the team are so accommodating and friendly. We only left as we moved to a different part of NZ. Highly recommended them!”
