About Education & Care Service

Education & Care Services are mainstream early learning centres that offer full-day or part-day care with a structured curriculum, qualified teachers, and a focus on learning through play. They cater to families needing flexible childcare options and wanting a balanced approach that supports social, physical, and early academic development in a diverse environment.

What Is 20 Hours ECE funding?

20 Hours ECE is a government-funded initiative that helps reduce the cost of early childhood education for families with tamariki aged 3–5. Eligible children can receive up to 20 hours of funded care and education each week at participating services. Centres can set their own enrolment patterns and may ask for optional charges, but the funded hours themselves should be free of compulsory fees. If you are unsure how this works at Busy Bees Whau Valley, it is best to ask the centre directly how they apply 20 Hours ECE.

“Busy Bees Whau Valley is the best choice I could have made for my babies future. They offer a great nutrition program to ensure the tamariki are being looked after. An app to see your child's growth, achievements, and photos of their milestones. Great communication from staff. Everything you need to help feel your tamariki are in a safe environment. Development, growth, independence, adaptability, strength, confidence, experience, joy, connections, communication, safety & different cultures. These are just a few of the skills your tamariki will have the opportunity to learn & explore in Busy Bees environment. Highly recommend going in and checking them out. All the staff you will meet are friendly & welcoming.”

“Busy Bees Whau Valley have been nothing but great! My boy has been going there for almost 2 years now and has had a great experience. They’re fantastic with communicating, the centre itself is big with a really nice indoor and outdoor area to play in, it’s in a great location and the teachers and office team are a lovely bunch. They offer really good food at the centre, which is awesome as I don’t have to worry about packing lunches. I highly recommend Busy Bees Whau Valley”

“We were the parents that didn't trust anyone having our son and my year of maternity leave coming to end had me in all kinds of nerves. So choosing the right daycare was really important. Our first visit we were blown away by how welcoming and kind everyone, our second visit we appreciated that the teachers had a firm but kind approach to setting boundaries. In our transitional period Cerie cared alot about what oliver likes/dislikes and his routine. I've had to change Oliver's hours many times and it's never been a problem. Most of all what I am forever thankful for is how much the teachers love our son and care for his wellbeing. Cerie, savannah, Sophie and the rest of the amazing team are one of a kind. I was told once thar your daycare becomes like a second family and it couldn't be more true. Oliver loves going to daycare, he's excited to run up the hill and to see all the activities they have set for the day.”

“My 2 kids (4 and 2) absolutely love the space and teachers at Busy Bees Whau Valley. There's always big smiles (kids and teachers) on drop off and they never want to leave at pick up! Staff are very friendly and easily approachable and there's plenty of space for both indoor and outdoor activities, making it great for the kids, rain or shine. I definitely feel happy leaving my kids in their hands. Thanks team!”
